The Grounded Project

Shaping Future Leaders Through Connection

A Pathway to Leadership, Resilience, and Cultural Understanding

Australia’s young people are facing a crisis of disconnection — from community, from nature, and from a sense of belonging.

But there is a solution — one that is uniquely Australian: The Grounded Project.

For over 12 years, Life Again has delivered immersive, Indigenous-led On Country experiences that reconnect students to themselves, each other, and to Country.

Guided by Aboriginal Elders and cultural educators, students step into the world’s oldest living culture — learning not just about leadership, but experiencing it firsthand through connection, storytelling, and deep reflection.

This isn’t just a school trip. It’s a journey that builds resilience, empathy, and cultural understanding — the foundations of true leadership.

Through The Grounded Project, students are part of something uniquely Australian, where connection to Place and community shapes them into grounded, capable leaders.

The Three-Stage Journey:
Building Future Leaders

Year 7 – Local Day Trip: Discovering Connection

The journey begins with a day trip to local Country—an introduction to Indigenous knowledge, grounded in Place. Students learn the importance of understanding the land beneath their feet, guided by local Elders who share stories passed down through generations. They explore bush foods, traditional practices, and the deep spiritual connection to Country that is central to Aboriginal culture.

“To understand where you’re going, you need to understand where you are.”

Year 9 – 3-Day Regional Immersion: Deepening Understanding

Building on their Year 7 experience, students travel further On Country for a 3-day immersion, where the learning becomes more experiential and profound. They participate in traditional practices, listen to stories, and engage in community-led learning. Students learn about resilience, community, and the strength that comes from deep
connection to Place.

“Through storytelling and tradition, students begin to see their place in the larger narrative of this land.”

Year 11 – 7-Day Central Australia Journey: Leading with Purpose

The final stage is a transformational 7-day journey to Central Australia, led by Traditional Owners. Students walk on sacred land, listen to Dreamtime stories, and learn directly from Elders who have stewarded these lands for millennia. This experience instills purpose, leadership, and a deeper understanding of stewardship and
connection.

“This is where young leaders are made—through understanding, resilience, and
responsibility.”

Why It Matters

Australia’s future leaders need more than classroom learning — they need connection, empathy,
and a deeper understanding of Country and community.

Through The Grounded Project, students gain:

And critically, this is uniquely Australian—an experience that only happens here, on this land,
with these stories, and through this connection.

Your Opportunity to Create Lasting Change
